General description of organisation
YMCA’s vision is a world where every person lives in harmony with self, with society and with creation. Its mission is to empower young people and communities worldwide to build a just, sustainable, equitable and inclusive world, where every person can thrive in body, mind and spirit. It operates in four main areas through YMCA Vision 2030: Community Wellbeing, Meaningful Work, Sustainable Planet, and Just World.
Reason for membership with SSF
YMCA is the oldest and one of the largest youth organisations in the world. Founded in London in 1844, it now reaches over 65 million people across 120 countries. It has deep roots in communities, decades of experience enabling young people and communities to thrive, and an extensive global network. It has nearly 90,000 staff, some 920,000 volunteers and 12,000 branches worldwide.
It is committed to mobilising capital including impact investing funding to further SDGs relating to young people and to ensure young people and communities have a voice in shaping the impact investing markets.
