General description of organisation
Driven by curiosity and responding to societal needs, the Weather and Climate Risks (WCR) Group at the Institute for Environmental Decisions in the Department of Environmental Systems Science at ETH Zurich engages in research and teaching on weather and climate risks. We bridge the gap between science and society through reflection, modelling, and engagement with stakeholders in order to support option appraisal and decision making. By co-designing and -developing decision-support systems with partners in the public and private sector, the Weather and Climate Risks (WCR) Group engages in stakeholder dialogue about weather and climate risks in areas such as warnings, planning and strategy. Regarding finance, the WCR Group works in innosuisse projects with MSCI/CarbonDelta and CelsiusPro, in physical risk disclosure with NGFS, and in impact modeling with Swiss Re, local Swiss insurers and many other partners worldwide.
