General description of organisation
Established in 1963 as a Swiss bank, BCP segments its activities into two well-established core businesses: Commodity Trade Finance and Wealth Management. These are reinforced by our expert Treasury services. BCP enjoys a solid reputation as a high-quality service provider in all of its banking fields. Founded under Swiss Banking Law and Regulations, BCP is supervised by FINMA, the Swiss financial markets supervisory authority. Headquartered in Geneva, BCP also operates a branch in Luxembourg and a representative office in Dubai.
Reason for membership with SSF
Being a member of SSF is a way for us to contribute to the promotion of sustainable finance, while giving our employees the opportunity to access and contribute to the expertise of this major sharing-knowledge platform that constitutes SSF.
BCP is committed to promote acceptance and implementation of ESG factors both internally through its own processes and policies, and externally in the conduct of its core businesses.
Regarding our core Commodity Trade Finance business segment, we notably analyze and evaluate companies and transactions through the lenses of various strategic standards of good practice. ESG factors are part of our comprehensive Know Your Customer (“KYC”) and Know Your Transaction (“KYT”) assessment. We also have taken many concrete measures aimed at reducing the impact of the operations we finance on the environment. Requirements regarding social aspects and governance transparency are also key elements.
In parallel, we take an ESG approach to investments, both in our Treasury and Wealth Management activities, with concrete objectives. Taking into account the exposure of our investments and our clients’ investments to ESG criteria is a way of improving the resilience of portfolios over the long-term, while offering opportunities to the various markets’ stakeholders to contribute to a more sustainable future.
Last but not least, BCP is committed to embedding social well-being and engaging employees in supporting sustainability in the workplace.
