General description of organisation

The blpk is something special: we are a collective pension fund under public law. There are very few of these among the public pension funds. We offer different pension schemes for lager companies, public and private institutions as well as for all employees of the canton of Basel-Land. With more than 36'000 insured persons and CHF 10.8 billion total assets (as of December 2020) we are a large pension fund in Switzerland. The main characteristics of blpk are: A lean organization, low administrative costs, flexible and customizable pension scheme offerings. Our investment strategy has a low risk profile and the asset allocation is well diversified. Direct investments in Swiss real estate are a major asset class with a high importance for us. We are convinced to achieve a high sustainability impact with an active management within the real estate sector.

Reason for membership with SSF

We have been a member of the Swiss Association for Responsible Investments (SVVK-ASIR) since 2019. Transparency and sustainability are important pillars of our strategy. We exclude companies involved in controversial business activities. We do this using a systematic normative exclusion and engagement process. The normative approach is based on national laws and international standards, such as the 10 principles of the UN Global Compact. We are absolutely convinced that sustainable investing can create additional value to our stakeholders and reduce potential financial and reputational risks.
We will continue to extend our sustainability strategy into a target based and more systematic approach. Therefore, we are interested to be part of a national network like SSF
