Bank Cler

General description of organisation

The Bank Cler (former Bank Coop) is operating in the whole of Switzerland as a retail bank. It offers all substantial bank products and services for private customers and small and middle enterprises. Since 2000 the Basler Kantonalbank holds the majority of shares at the Bank Cler. In 2017 Bank Coop changed its brand to Bank Cler and since 2019 Bank Cler is completely owned by the Basler Kantonalbank. Bank Cler has been delisted from the SIX Swiss Exchange. Still Bank Cler is managed as a separate company and an own brand.

Reason for membership with SSF

The Bank Cler has a long tradition in sustainable activities and is committed to responsible Banking. Therefore Bank Cler has integrated sustainability aspects into its company strategy and defined several areas in which it wants to intensify its efforts. One of the goals is to enhance the range of sustainable banking products and services. Especially with regard to sustainable investments the Bank Cler wants to further develop its expertise and offering. Swiss Sustainable Finance, as the leading association for Sustainable Finance in Switzerland, offers a lot of know-how, services and networking opportunities from which the Bank Cler can profit and contribute in order to reach it’s goals. Furthermore SSF helps to shape the banking sector as a whole with regard to more sustainability, which is something the Bank Cler wants to support.
