General description of organisation
Allianz Global Investors is a leading active asset manager with over 600 investment professionals in over 20 offices worldwide and managing EUR 520 billion in assets. We invest for the long term and seek to generate value for clients every step of the way. We do his by being active – in how we partner with clients and anticipate their changing needs, and build solutions based on capabilities across public and private markets- Our focus on protecting and enhancing our clients` assets leads naturally to a commitment to sustainability to drive positive change. Reason for membership with SSF
Sustainability is a priority at Allianz and we are particularly committed to combating climate change. The company is a founding member of the Net-Zero Asset Owner Alliance and has committed to achieving net zero across its investment activities by 2030. ESG matters and considerations around sustainability risks therefore form an integral part of the infrastructure investment processes and asset management activities – across primary commitments, secondary transactions, co-investment and direct investments.
Allianz GI has a long pedigree in ESG related research and investing, dating back to 1999, which made us a pioneer in the area of responsible and sustainable investing. We were among the first 50 asset managers to sign PRI in 2007.
As an active investor, research is core to our ability to generate returns. Thus, we have an active stewardship program of engagement and proxy voting, and our ESG research is available to all investors across Allianz GI via our Global Collaboration Platform.
As a baseline, all of our strategies assess ESG risk-focused and Sustainable product categories that cater for our client`s sustainability objectives and preferences. The combined assets under management of the ESG risk-focused and Sustainable product categories amount to over 220 billion (as at end of September 2022).
Our membership underlines our ambition to be an active member of the ESG community.
