Christian Hofer
Head of Sustainability, Political Affairs and Cooperative (Raiffeisen)
Christian Hofer is Head Sustainability, Political Affairs & Cooperative at Raiffeisen. Since 2017 he is responsible for enhancing and implementing Raiffeisen’s sustainability strategy and management at group level. For Raiffeisen, Christian implemented projects on e.g. ESG risk management, ESG due diligence, sustainability and climate disclosure, green/sustainability bond, and responsible and traceable gold.
Before joining Raiffeisen, he represented Switzerland in the Board of the Inter-American Development Bank Group in Washington, DC. He worked for the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), the Berghof Foundation for Conflict Studies in Sri Lanka and the University of Zurich. At present, he is member of the Swiss Banking Association’s Expert Commission for Sustainable Finance, the Swiss Climate Foundation’s Board of Trustees and Swiss Better Gold Association’s Board. For SSF he acts as lead of the sustainable financing platform.
Christian completed his studies at the Universities of Zurich, Geneva, Bilbao and Edinburgh with a Master of Law and a PhD on human rights from the University of Zurich. In addition, he holds an MBA in Finance, Global Management and Responsible Management from the George Washington University in Washington, DC
